Achtenberg, a longtime activist and teacher, follows individual lives and the stories that have shaped our global consciousness, including the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Bosnian War, and 9/11. Her poems rail against injustice, the loss of ancestral knowledge, and calls for healing. Achtenberg is an award-winning fiction writer, poet, and teacher who has taught creative writing at New York University, Hamline University, and the University of New Mexico and for The International Women’s Writing Guild and The Loft in Minneapolis, where she resides.
